Резюме УДК 582.71:582.734.4:547.587.52 Национальный фармацевтический университет (Харьков) 61002, г. Харьков, ул. Пушкинская, 53 kozyra-s@yandex.ua Introduction. Phenol compounds attract the attention of specialists as biologically active substances which provide pharmacological activity of a great number of herbal origin dosage forms. The need of multipurpose use of plants and the availability of ample raw materials sources explain a rich interest to study of such representatives of Ukrainian flora as Geum L. genus (avens): G. aleppicum Jacq. (g. allepic), G. rivale L. (g. river) and G. urbanum L. (g. urban) [3]. Plants of Geum L. genus have been widely used in folk medicine as an anti-inflammatory, astringent and wound healing agent [2]. Phyto-medicines made from a root with rhizome of avens urban are recommended in cases of catarrh of gastrointestinal tract (especially when it is attended with fever), malnutrition, meteorism, simple or bloody diarrhea, dysentery, intestinal colics, vomiting, liver and gallbladder diseases. G. allepic is known in folk medicine as a tonic, hemostatic, astringent, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anesthetic and weak soporific agent. The tincture of river avens rhizomes and roots is used for malaria, diarrhea, uterine and hemorrhoidal bleeding, scurvy, migraine, insomnia, venomous snake bites, allergy, and also after severe diseases as a general health-improving agent. The cases of external using of the river avens tincture include such treatments as gargling in angina and baths for articulations and muscles [2, 4, 5]. Preliminary chemical investigations of plants of Geum L. genus have showed the presence of certain polyphenols in a raw material (of the grass and rhizomes with roots) with the proper anti-inflammatory, astringent and wound healing activity [ 7, 8, 9]. The connection of the work with scientific programs, plans and topics: the work is made in accordance with plans of research activity of NPhaU on the problem “Pharmacognosical study of biologically active substances, making medicines of herbal origin” (№ of the state registration 0103U000476). The aim of this work is determining of the quantitative composition of flavonoids in the grass and rhizomes with roots of plants of Geum L. genus. Data and methods of the study. As a raw material we take the grass and rhizomes with roots of G. aleppicum Jacq., G. rivale L., G. urbanum L. which were gathered in 2010-2011 over the territory of Kharkov and Kharkov region. The identification of a raw material is implemented by the complex of morphological characteristics which were recognized using macro- and microscopical methods. We made the spectrophotometric determination of flavonoids sums in the grass and rhizomes with roots of three studied species of Geum L. genus with the recalculation to rutin [1]. It was applied the method of differential spectrophotometry which is the most widespread. The operating range of wavelength for flavonoids is the long-wave maximum of 330-370 nm. In reaction of aluminium chloride complex creature it appears a bathochromic shift of the first absorption band within 385-460 nm [1, 6]. As a standard substance sample it has been used a rutin. The difference absorption spectrum of rutin with aluminium chloride coinсides with the difference absorption spectrum of flavonoids from a raw material which has been studied with the absorption maximum at the wavelength of 415 nm. The obtained results and their discussion. The results of quantitative determination of flavonoids in vegetative organs of the studied species of Geum L. genus are shown in table 1.
Table 1 The results of quantitative determination of flavonoids sum in plants of Geum L. genus
The obtained data show that the maximal sum of flavonoids are contained in the grasses of G. urbanum L., G. aleppicum Jacq. and G. rivale L. – 2,47%, 2,19% and 2,25% respectively. Conclusions 1. For the first time it is studied the quantitative composition of the flavonoids sum in the grass and rhizomes with roots of plants of Geum L. genus: G. aleppicum Jacq., G. rivale L., G. urbanum L. 2. The obtained results show that the maximal flavonoids sum is contained in the grass of the studied species. Among these species G. urbanum L. dominates and can be used as a perspective medicinal plant with an anti-inflammatory, astringent and wound healing activity.
