Teaching of specialists in the dental technic departments of medical colleges provides mastering of wide volume of clinical knowledge in practical stomatology and medicine for understanding of essence of the mechanisms of pathology development, methods of their treatment and prevention. Students’ training must be conducted in accordance with the tempos and directions of the development of modern medicine. The article deals with the methodology of implementation of basic provisions of the academic plan on the subject “Stomatology assistance to the population and preventive medicine” into pedagogical process at the department of pediatric dentistry for students of the dental technic department of medical college of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University. The students’ self-guided work provides the study of separate themes, which are not included into the plan of class-based learning activity, training to the pass/fail grading test and cultivation of the practical skills. Evaluation of the self-guided work, which is provided in the theme of practical class, is conducted during current control at the relative class. The evaluation of themes, which are set only for self-training and are not included into the themes of practical classes, is conducted at the pass/fail grading test. At the practical classes of the department the present methods of teaching with usage of technical means and visualization are widely used. The classes are conducted in the form of business game that optimize mastering wide range of modern medicine knowledge on the whole and stomatology, in particular, by the students of medical college [3]. The big part of practical classes is conducted on the basis of academic-practical center of stomatology faculty of IFNMU – in phantom class of preparing of dental hard tissue, in class of teeth extraction and anesthesia, in the study of computer and X-ray diagnostics, and in clinical laboratory. All studies of the scientific-practical center are equipped with the modern equipment, instruments, materials, reagents and training stimulators. Phantoms, pattern models and other visualizations serve as stimulators for self-guided training of students of the dental technic department of medical college. The current control of students’ knowledge is conducted at each practical class in accordance to the concrete theme by means of oral or written answer for the class questions, solution of the thematic tasks or tests. Evaluation of the executed practical task is compulsory. Based on the typical program of this subject, we developed and adapted the complex of learning and teaching materials. In order to improve the quality of professional training of junior specialists aimed at formation of clinical thinking at them and obtainment of practical skills, the methods of interactive teaching are introduced into the pedagogical process. The classes are conducted in the phantom classes on preparing dental hard tissues, teeth extraction, and anesthetic management; in the study of computer and X-ray diagnostics; clinical laboratory that allows sufficiently expand the outlook of students. Thus, the learning and teaching materials on the subject “Stomatology assistance to the population and preventive medicine” developed, adapted and introduced into pedagogical process allows effectively providing thematic materials to the students of medical college on the specialty “Orthopedic stomatology”. The obtained necessary knowledge and skills on organization of stomatology assistance to the population; environmental hygiene and personal hygiene of the dental technician at the working place; knowledge about professional damage and ways of their prevention; knowledge about etiology and basic clinical signs of stomatology diseases and conduction of preventive measures sufficiently improve the quality of professional training of junior specialists and form the elements of clinical thinking at them. Conduction of practical classes in the studies of scientific-practical center of stomatology faculty optimizes and improves effectiveness of obtainment of the practical knowledge by students.
